Why nearby neighbourhoods can show the same weather
Your selected address and its weather location
Whenther connects a selected address to a nearby weather location. The address at the top is the place you searched for; the linked weather location identifies the area supplying the weather data. These names can differ. Neighbouring addresses may share a location, so identical temperatures and forecasts do not by themselves mean the search is broken.
Identical forecasts also do not establish identical conditions on two streets. Shade, sunlight, wind between buildings and time spent indoors can affect your experience beyond a representative forecast. A neighbourhood page does not promise a sensor reading outside your home.
Make the comparison consistent
| Check | Compare | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Address and linked location | Read both names on each page | Assuming different addresses require different readings |
| Observation time | Compare the displayed times in Korea Standard Time | Treating an old 18°C and a newer 28°C as a regional difference |
| Measurement | Compare air temperature with air temperature, or forecasts for the same hour | Comparing feels-like temperature with the daily maximum |
As a hypothetical example, neighbourhoods A and B may use one weather location and both show 20°C at 9 am. That is consistent. If one reading is from 6 am and the other from 9 am, first resolve the time difference. These are illustrative numbers, not current weather.
Compare a journey, step by step
- Open your departure area in location search and find the forecast for your departure hour.
- Open your destination and compare the same hour. For a longer journey, also check your expected arrival time.
- Compare precipitation probability and rain or snow conditions as well as temperature. Include your return journey.
- The clothing examples mainly use current feels-like temperature; do not assume they describe comfort later in the day.
- Check official warnings before relying on general clothing advice.
Old observations and missing readings
A notice appears when the observation is old or its time cannot be verified. Keeping the page open does not guarantee a new source observation will arrive. A retained value is not a fresh confirmation of current conditions.
A dash or unavailable reading does not mean zero degrees, zero humidity or zero precipitation probability. If the information you need is missing or remains outdated, check the latest forecast at KMA.
Report a mismatch usefully
If a page keeps the previous address after switching locations, shows a date that does not match the observation, or still looks inconsistent after aligning time and measurement, use contact. Include the page URL, selected area, time checked in KST and affected field. Your exact home address and personal location history are unnecessary.
This guide describes Whenther’s address-to-weather-location mapping and website data handling. KMA forecast publication and website refresh are separate processes. Continue with reading weather for your outfit for clothing decisions.
